On Sunday, December 12, 1999, Joe and Jackie Brown adopted "Cousteau" from SAFE Haven For Cats in Raleigh, North Carolina.  We have changed his name to "Sheldy" in honor of the character created for this book.  Sheldy immediately became comfortable in his new home from the moment we opened the door to the cat carrier.  Chiquita and Bandit (our other two cats) were a little curious at first, but are adjusting well to their new little brother.

In fact, despite their current difference in size (of twenty-two pounds), Sheldy and Bandit have tons of fun playing with each other and enjoy snuggling together when it is time to nap!  Bandit also likes to supervise Sheldy's meal times (as shown here)!
