On Sunday, December 12, 1999, we adopted "Cousteau" from SAFE Haven For Cats in Raleigh, North Carolina. We have changed his name to "Sheldon" (aka "Sheldy") in honor of the character created for this book. Sheldy immediately became comfortable in our new home from the moment we opened the door to the cat carrrier and let him out. Chiquita and Bandit (our other two cats) are a little curious, but seem to be adjusting well to their new little brother.

Sheldy's two brothers are still waiting at the shelter for a good home. It was a tough decision to make... all the cats and kittens at the shelter were sooo cute!
